The Metropolitan Council’s Environmental Services Division (MCES) operates and maintains the wastewater collection and treatment system in the Twin Cities metropolitan region.  It also provides coordinated long-range water resources and supply planning, air, and water quality monitoring to meet future needs. The Principal or Senior Engineer in Water Supply Planning will play a vital role in leading and supporting the planning effort by the Council to ensure the sustainability, reliability, and stability of water supplies for our metro area.  This will include overseeing technical and planning work to ensure the Council is producing highly valued and credible information for making decisions in a timely manner, providing timely support to communities in their local planning efforts, fulfilling the Council's legislative mandate for water supply planning, supporting collaboration among water utility and policy stakeholders, which is critical to fulfilling the Council's Water Supply Planning work plan and implementation of the Master Water Supply Plan.

Full Salary for Senior Engineer: $36.59 - $55.22 hourly/ $76,107 - $114,857 annually

Full Salary for Principal Engineer: $39.57 - $59.71 Hourly/ $ 82,306 - $124, 197 annually



Requirements

Minimum Qualifications for Senior Engineer

Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field AND four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal water supply planning and engineering.

Minimum Qualifications for Principal Engineer

Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field AND six (6) years of progressively responsible experience related to municipal water supply planning and engineering and policy development and interpretation.

License Requirements

  • EIT or PE registration in Minnesota (PE is preferred).  PE licenses from other states must be transferrable to Minnesota within the probationary period of six (6) months from hire. 
  • Valid driver's license.
